讲座内容摘要

Ecology, at its core, is the study of the interaction of organisms with one another and with their environment. Ecological urbanism suggests that these relationships are social, cultural, economic, and aesthetic in addition to environmental. In speculating on urban futures, it is essential to consider the multiple ecologies of a given area. If we are to design and plan landscapes in ways that are more ecological then we need to find methods to better understand, and measure, and design with these various ecologies. This lecture will describe a four-stage research collaboration between Harvard GSD and the government of The Bahamas, which developed a collaborative method for ecological urbanism in a real-world context.
